Today I wrote
It’s not exactly a secret around here that I’ve struggled to write Perfect Nightmare. Well, I’ve struggled to write much of anything for a while now. It’s a combination of things, some of which I’ve talked about and some of which I haven’t. But yesterday I decided I’m going to try something new.
I’m going to dedicate just half an hour a day to Perfect Nightmare.*
*note: Half an hour a day isn’t my total writing time on all my projects, just this one.
I figured the worst that could happen is that I’ll sit and stare at a blank page for thirty minutes, but if I even write one word on this story, that’s one more word than I had yesterday. I also decided not to limit myself to half an hour. It’s a minimum of 30 minutes, but if I happen to hit some inspiration or a spark to work on the story longer, I’ll go until it burns out.
Yesterday, I only managed about 200 words on the story.
But today I wrote.
I wrote over a thousand words on this story that I’ve been stuck on for more than a year.
And while it’s still a ways from being done, progress is progress and for today I’m happy because today I wrote.
